I would suggest you to get Old Navy CCV to make the engine compartment "silverer"! /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Where did you buy the hose from, are they a direct fit, do they come in different colors?

My Passat being black, I tend to add black items to her. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Built myself a new Windjammer for my roofrack..

nice piece of oak and some stainless hardware to hold it on.

it works WONDERS for the windnoise. before this I could easily hear my rack HOWLING!!!! at any speed above 40mph.

now, SILENCE until about 80MPH or so.. and all that does is create a little buffetting.. very easy to tune out, and I typically do not travel that speed so all is good.

Well,

I am attending another car show this weekend (8/14) wish me luck! I will post pictures of my show setup when the weekend is over.
I have some Old school Coca-Cola Flair to add to my display this time.

didn't get any love at that car show a year ago, but at the same show this year I came in 2nd place :0)

Growler now has 70,000 miles on his ticker and has been burning B20 for the last 8 months and 12,000 miles.

I love this car!

Growler, that's a great-looking bug. I have craved an original Beetle in the two-tone finish for a long time. Your retro touches are just too cool. The fact that it's a TDI is icing on the cake!

hey I sold this car about a year ago with 80k on the clock.

but I never posted this photo in here so I figured I would now.

anyhoo, I did sell this car, and was sad when I had to, but the wife was having twins, and I had to get the family a 2003 Eurovan to haul the girls & Boys (4 children now) around in.

in the meantime, I purchased a 1989 16V GTI to play with. which got sold to Matt98ahu on the forums recently.

because I now have a 2001 GL 2 door Golf TDI. I call it Matrix, and there are links in my signature now :)

5-door, 5-speed Golf GLS replaced BeetleGo.
Sorry to hear you had to sell the Growler.

Being a twin myself I can assure you that you needed the van. We take up a LOT of room with all the stuff you have to carry, and then there's the twins - and two others as well?! Mercy! Good luck!!

Hopefully a diesel will come your way.

in October of 2019, the person I sold this beetle to contacted me to ask if I wanted it back.. Of course I did, but I wasn't able to at the time, however, my Father was and could put it to use.

Fast forward 4 years and 17k miles, My father knew I still wanted it back and he gave it to me.(pays to be nice to your father)

I sold this car in 2006 with 80k miles on the odometer.. in 2019 it had 281k on it.

It is currently at 298k. runs like a top, the .688 5th gear is still going strong. I am looking for a replacement Batik Blue hood as the original one has had clear coat peeling, a decent dent in it and just needs to be replaced. Here is a new photo with the same roof rack from before (yes it came back with the car in 2019)

The exterior is still in such good shape all these years later!! Pay's to not live in the rusty states lol. That must be such a cool feeling to have it back. I know I'd love to see my first beetle again

Ohio is a pretty salty state, especially the northern parts. I bought a five year old Corolla from Cleveland once... big mistake.

Huh, I guess when I've been through there in the winter it was decent, but that was the southern part. Only been through ohio 1-2 times though. I just remember it was freezing and snow on the ground here and there it was somewhere in the 50's. I have never been through the upper half of ohio. I guess that explains why years ago when my friend moved there he had a CRX that was very rusted. I just figured that it came from somewhere else previously.

Although I would say the southern half of Missouri is far less harmful to cars than the northern half, or ANY of Illinois. Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and New York seem to be the worst from what I have seen.
IDk man. I'm just a dumb college kid lol. Been to Missouri a few times during February and I don't remember seeing snow. I like the state. It was 50-60's and the bass were just slamming the lures! Great memories. Came through St. louis last Aug. (2022) on our way back from Tail of the dragon and Tellico plains, TN. Thought about messaging you on here to see if you cared if I swung by the shop to say Hi, and meet you quick. I was already behind schedule though and thought maybe that's an odd thing to ask lol.

I lived here all my life... we get snow every winter, albeit often just one "good" snowfall. But we've had some over a foot.

Here's last year's snow day shenanigans:

Ohio like my home state of PA is salty in the northern parts. In PA down south near Harrisburg and the Maryland border salt is not needed as often. Up near the NY border where I am it’s a much different story. I assume Ohio is similar, in the north near the lakes salt would be used often and down south near Kentucky less often.

That salt just eats cars right up. However a couple of states don’t use salt, I think Washington or Oregon or maybe both, and the danger of winter driving is increased tenfold.
