im aware, but sadly not what im looking for. i am trying to locate a known pre-dieselgate fix ECU dump

I doubt a professional tuner would give/sell a byte-for-byte copy of original manufacturer code. Seems like that would be a copyright violation.

i've found it isn't so much of a copyright violation as it is a "trade secret" type of thing.

tuners in general are VERY reluctant to give up ANY files which are not protected in one capacity or another. including stock reads.
i understand why, because some people have ruined it for everyone else by stealing tunes and IP, but it just grinds my gears haha

yes and no..
to my knowledge there is some precedence in court showing that the modules in the car are ours to mess with. including the code which runs on them. even if not, my use case is under fair use as im not trying to sell the files or anything which would violate terms obiding by fair use

plus, there is also ongoing battles about right to repair.

my reference to someone stealing IP is meant for certain people who shall go un-named but rhym with evenston who like to take the tuner's IP of custom tunes then sell those like they made it themselves.

this is all besides the point, in short im not getting this file from malone, and i am trying to source a pre-fix file.

All he's looking for is a stock/factory tune pre-dieselgate. Surely this must be found online somewhere on ecu forums etc. You can find factory tunes for all sorts of cars on the internet as many people have uploaded them

certainly, i can probably go find it on ecuconnections but im feeling a little too lazy LOL
