I will come just to meet people like IBW! The last time I tried in 2011, the alternator pulley on my 2003 ALH Wagon blew apart just south of Nashville. If I had known then what I know now, we would have just kept on driving. I have one of three TDI's left after the buyback and an unfortunate encounter with an eight point buck, but I'm keeping this one. I frequently mourn the passing of my wife's 2013 Touareg Sport w/nav but the ALH continues to please. Let's do it!

Lets keep our fingers crossed that we're not still living this way a year from now. The way things are going I'm not terribly optimistic.

Things will probably get a bit better after the election. There have already been a couple states that said they'd open up after the election
(hmm, odd🤨). Wisconsin is open and has very few numbers of those getting covid, they've moved on with life.. Technically MN is still under lockdown, but most people don't care anymore, and have gone about their daily lives. We have super low numbers, and have had low numbers for weeks now. I don't know for sure what Michigan looks like but Wisconsin is good so I'd hope their not far behind, and would think by next fall things will be fine.

Hate to tell you, but the number of COVID positives in WI is up 84% in the last 14 days. MN is up 88%. Deaths are relatively low right now, but they lag case increses by a few weeks. The midwest and upper midwest are hot spots right now.

Of course this doesn't tell us where we'll be in a year, but it appears that numbers fluctuate continuously. And many aren't confident that the situation will change for 12-15 months. I hope against hope that I'm wrong.

You're right, this isn't the place to debate statistics. Let's just agree that it would be great to be able to get together in early October next year for the Detroit show and to meet other TDI owners. I miss Michigan!

right now it just stopped pouring rain. colors are changing and a frost warning tonight. If you haven't already, next time you are here check out Stahls automotive Foundation and Gilmore Car Museum, two really neat places among many others

This morning Terry Frost from Frostheater sent me this photo of TDIParts at the 2005 Lake Mills WI Fest:

That's Dan, founder of TDIParts, before Corey and I got involved in the business.

I love Wisconsin, too. I tell people the two states I'd be willing to live in outside New England are Michigan and Wisconsin. My family in California doesn't understand this at all.

I'd be up for living in UP Michigan! The snow out there I hear is amazing for snowmobiling! i've seen some great videos.

I have two of terry's frost heaters. absolutely love them!

Favorite place to be: waist deep in frozen water during the winter, and swimming through it in the summer! lol

when they have these fests out there do they have venders come out? like i know years ago they did, but how about now?

We come to Fests, but we stopped bringing products several years ago. WIth 8000+ products on our site no matter what we bring people are always asking why we didn't bring something else. So we transitioned to accepting pre-orders at discounts and shipping a pallet or two of orders to the Fest location. That's what we did for Sturgeon Bay. Not sure what we'd do if this one comes off. Probably just show up.

ah, ok. makes sense. If the fest happens and a lot of people show up, it'd be kinda nice to be able to put some faces to the different member names.

I just dug through an unmanageable picture library and found some from the 2010 TDI Fest in Portland that I attended PDX 2010 that I was going to post but it doesn't look like the software will do downloads from my own device. The 2010 event was a lot of fun and I enjoyed attending and learned quite a bit while attending, especially the heads up regarding the BRM camshafts issue that I already had developing on mine as confirmed by used oil analysis. I found the presentation regarding BRM Cams and replacement put on by Frank to be most helpful. I'm still driving the 2006 Jetta TDI that now has about 240,000 Km's on it. If another TDI fest opportunity presents itself I would be interested in attending.

WOW! Things have changed since I last visited. New forum look and feel, and I see I need to re-size my avatar to fit the new space allocation.
But some things haven't changed much. I still have only my diesel Bolens tractor, still using biodiesel that I bought three years ago. I am actually liking the Volt as much as any other car I've owned, so I don't miss TDI as I feared I might.
That said, I'm up for a trip to NAIAS regardless of what I drive there.

I wonder it there's time to swap the 3 pot diesel from the tractor into the Sonett.....

There are just too many to list....
Honestly, as much as I liked the TDIfests I attended, it certainly is a lot to plan and manage. Maybe just some smaller get togethers can be just as fun. I may host something at my house again before too long.

I'm not old, you're old! TooRound is on the hill and going over in January, how's that make you feel!

Depending on what happens with the virus I've been thinking about another hoedown on the farm possibly this summer. Hopefully it won't be 900 degrees with 100% mosquitoes like last time! I've got most of the things for things to start happening with the AHU/ALH swap into the Scirocco, FINALLY this year. It won't be going into the car this summer but by then I should have a shiny TDI with lots of shiny parts on it by then, we'll see!

That' would be fun. You live in a great spot. I can bring my B4 so the AHUs can hang out together.

Thatd be great, I don't think I've seen it since you got it. I sold the black car though so the only AHU I have is the donor for the Scirocco. Doing that I was able to get the better parts I wanted including Tuscan rods so I can go bigger than I had originally planned, it's gonna be a good one :)

Hopefully the pandemic won't be a problem by next summer though the trend isn't looking good right now. Whenever it does though I would love to get as many as can make it of the TDI family together again, it's always a good time!
