I have an 06 Jetta with BRM motor. It is getting the following error when going into limp mode:

000665 - Boost Pressure Regulation
P0299 - 000 - Control Range Not Reached
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 01110000
Fault Priority: 0
Fault Frequency: 1
Reset counter: 255
Mileage: 317802 km
Time Indication: 0
Date: 2000.00.00
Time: 17:09:39

Freeze Frame:
RPM: 2793 /min
Speed: 82.0 km/h
Load: 100.0 %
Voltage: 14.36 V
Bin. Bits: 00101000
Absolute Pres.: 2029.8 mbar
Absolute Pres.: 1387.2 mbar

There are no vacuum leaks. The turbo actuator starts it motion with 3-4 lbs of vacuum and stops at about 8-9 lbs of vacuum. It operates smoothly and has no sticking points. The tandem pump was recently replaced. I just installed a new N75 regulator. The air filter is also new. I am at a loss as to what to check. next. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

What is the best way to clean it up? I don't think it can be removed from the turbo.

While it is possible to replace just the actuator on the BRM's turbo, it can be a pain if you're not comfortable
with modding a bit.
I think it's more likely the turbo itself is gummed up, and not allowing the actuator to run its full range.
Some people have reported success with using oven cleaner blown into the turbo vanes, letting sit,
and then blowing it out by running it hard. Some report it gums back up after a year or two, though.
I'm not sure if it's possible on your car, but some people simply disconnect the actuator arm and work the
vanes back and forth by hand to break the soot cake up, reconnect actuator, then go run it hard.
At the link Bob posted, read through and rule out all the cheap stuff first. It could be something as simple
as a leak in your charge air tract, some connection come loose or a split in some hose or other.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree it is probably the vanes gumming up. I have actually resolved the roblem. After warming the motor up I just revved it with no load. It sputtered for 10 seconds or so and set off the engine light with the same warning. The it suddenly starting running more smoothly but would not go past 3500 rm. I drove it a little bit and revved it again. It would then rev to about 4000 rm. So I revved it for another 30 seconds or so and it would rev to 5000 rpm. I cleared the error and it has not returned and the car is driving great. I have been told that you need to drive the diesels hard every once in a while. This is my wife's car and she never drives it hard. Lesson learned. I have told her to wind it up hard at least once a week to prevent the problem from happening in the future. thanks again for your feedback.
