So, I have removed the tranny. Then made a puller to get the torque convertor off. Any tips on how to remove the pump unit. Is it just remove all the torks bolts on the flange area and pull? I do have a spare transmission from my manual conversion for parts.

Have you checked the cam?

I had a key in my 05 Passat that sometimes would not come out. I squirted some lube in and it has been good for several years.

Check out Cascade German. I believe they sell a manual tranny with quite a few of the required parts.

On return the second try it fired right up. No stumbling instantly running perfect. I was worried that I had screwed up somehow.

Cheat? I probably did the 15 seconds on, a minute or two off at least a dozen times.

I see no problem with dropping the sub frame. Done it several times and never an alighment problem. But I do have a lift.

The bearing must be running all the time. Even then it should not fail in a few days.

I pulled engine and the transmission ti do the work on a bench. It was a good time to do all the rear engine work suchas the coolant manifold. I also did the BS delete and a new cam at the same time. I bought a car with a bad tranny.

The automatic brake pedal is just the manual one with a plate welded to it. Instead of trying to switch pedals, somewhat difficult, I juct cut off the plate.

Car started here at minus ten F. Not easily, 5 volt plugs. Over 300K on cthe car. BHW

Ok, my bad theory then. How are others finding the job of changing that synchro? I had to take the imput shaft to a machine shop to get the end gear pressed off.
